Setup Instructions

Claude.ai / Claude Desktop

  1. Go to Settings > MCP Connectors > Add Connector
  2. Enter the server URL: https://mcp.buddalaw.com/mcp
  3. Claude will start the OAuth flow — log in or create a BuddaLaw account
  4. After authorization, all tools become available in your conversations

Claude Code

claude mcp add buddalaw https://mcp.buddalaw.com/mcp

OpenWebUI (self-hosted)

Because each customer runs their own OpenWebUI instance on a different domain, the connector uses Bearer authentication with a personal BuddaLaw API key instead of OAuth.

  1. Write to hello@buddalaw.com to request API access — it is enabled per account by the BuddaLaw team during the initial rollout.
  2. Once enabled, log in to the BuddaLaw portal and generate a personal API key from the account settings (max 2 active keys per account).
  3. In OpenWebUI (v0.6.31+, WEBUI_SECRET_KEY configured), go to Settings > Tools > Add Connection and select type MCP (Streamable HTTP).
  4. Set the server URL to https://mcp.buddalaw.com/mcp, authentication to Bearer, and paste the API key.
  5. All tools become available in your OpenWebUI conversations.

The API key identifies the user and is bound to their BuddaLaw account and MCP access period — no separate OpenWebUI-specific credential is needed.

Authentication

Two authentication methods are supported depending on the client.

OAuth 2.1 — Claude.ai, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Perplexity

Authorization Code flow with PKCE:

  1. The client discovers the server metadata at /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource
  2. A login/signup page is presented to the user
  3. New users get a 7-day free trial after email verification
  4. After the trial, an active BuddaLaw subscription with MCP access is required

Bearer API key — OpenWebUI self-hosted, Claude API, custom integrations

A personal API key generated from the BuddaLaw portal is sent as Authorization: Bearer <key>. API key access is enabled per account by the BuddaLaw team on request.
